Welcome to Ashfield House Dental Practice

Good Afternoon Everyone from all the staff at Ashfield House Dental Practice.

Most of you will have heard that the Chief Dental Officer gave the green light for general dental practices to re-open from June 8th for face to face consultations and for emergency appointments.
The actual date we will re-open our doors will be determined by two things:

1. NATIONAL GUIDELINES - We are being updated daily with new scientific and procedural information which will have a major impact on the care we provide. In light of this, we are in the process of formulating standard operating procedures(SOP). These will be designed to keep everyone safe from cross infection by the COVID-19 virus.

2. RESPIRATOR AVAILABILITY - The problem we are facing currently is an almost complete lack of CE Certified and kitemarked respirators. This is due to market saturation with counterfeit equipment which is unsafe. There is also a huge demand and backlog for the correct certified respirators.
Please be assured that we are doing our best to source the correct respirators, gowns, aprons, visors, and other equipment to keep our patients and staff safe. There is unfortunately a waiting time for this equipment, but infection prevention and control (IPC) is such a major aspect for us as a practice as 95% of our clinical work produces a fine mist (aerosol) which increases the risk of potential viral transmission.

We'll be in touch very soon about the plan for the month of June when we hear more from the Faculty of General Dental Practioners (FGDP) the British Dental Association (BDA) and other professional bodies.
If you have an emergency, such as SEVERE oro-facial pain, trauma or infection, please call us on 015242 64813 and leave a message so that we can call you back. We will then be able to advise and if necessary prescribe medication remotely. A referral can also be made for extractions to an ‘EMERGENCY DENTAL CARE CENTRE‘ in Lancaster, but treatment is very much limited to the removal of teeth!

We will be in touch before we are allowed to re-open to explain our streamlined arrival and departure protocol.

Stay healthy, keep fit, take care,

With warm regards,
Mark, Mandy and Abbie.

A warm welcome to everyone from Mark, Mandy and Abbie at Ashfield House Dental Practice.

We want to keep you in the loop about what’s happening at this strange time.

Every hour of every day we are receiving and processing information from the General Dental Council, the British Dental Association and the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, the NHS and Public Health England to name just a few. Each providing opinions as to when and how we might resume clinical practice.

We are really missing seeing you all in person after the practice has been closed for two months now. It will be the scientific community and the government, who will issue evidence based advice on how to resume daily life for us all.

We are taking this unusual opportunity to do a lot of planning and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) with online journals and webinars. We are continuing to hold weekly practice meetings online to stay in contact and discuss the latest developments.

We will be streamlining the arrival and departure process to make most things contactless. You will have seen our disposeable PPE, but it seems that we will have to add a lot more items in order to line up with the latest guidelines for infection prevention and control (IPC). Please be assured that safety, comfort and affordability are priorities for us as a forward looking practice as we consider how to keep you and ourselves safe.

In the meantime, we would like to remind you that appointments up to the end of May have been cancelled, and we’ll be in touch about the plan for June when we hear from our professional bodies. If you do have an emergency, such as SEVERE oro-facial pain, trauma or infection, please call us on 015242 64813 and leave a message so that we can call you back. We will then be able to advise and if necessary prescribe medication remotely. A referral can also be made for extractions to an ‘EMERGENCY DENTAL CARE CENTRE‘ in Lancaster, but treatment is limited to the removal of teeth!

We will be in touch before we are allowed to re-open to explain our streamlined arrival and departure protocol.

Please do stay healthy, keep fit, take care of each other and let’s use this time wisely,
With warm regards,

Mark, Mandy and Abbie.
